Bob's personal skills include an ingrained sense of professionalism balanced with humor and intellectual curiosity. He believes in the strength of cultural diversity, based upon extensive experience living and traveling abroad. Bob enjoys skiing, traveling, biking, hiking, reading and cooking...and always good companionship and inspiring conversation. Bob is married with two grown children and one granddaughter.
Education and Military
- 1964: graduated from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. - BA: Political Science
- 1967-69: completed US Army Infantry Officers Candidate School(OCS) - served as an officer on the 8th Army Inspector General's Team (Korea) and Company Commander (Texas)
Professional Experience
- 1965-1993 - IBM:
- 1972-74: salesman in a small business territory (100% Club recognition)
- 1982-84: lived and worked in Paris (Manager of Plan Volumes); 1988-90: Hong Kong (Manager of Business Volumes)and 1990-92 in Tokyo (Manager of Market Research - responsible for IBM's Industry Estimates in Asia Pacific)
- 1993-95: after retirement, moved to North Carolina, created China Trade Associates to consult with US high tech companies to trade with the Republic of China
- 1995-97: moved to Brussels, Belgium opened the European office of a small US software company and worked on consulting contracts
- 1997: moved back to the US and contracted with IBM as an International Briefing Consultant
- held discussions with the country IBM client teams to understand the objectives and status, recommend an agenda,venue and presenters
- matched client executives with business objectives and was personally responsible for the success of the event
- the overall goal of event planning at IBM was to get the client's chairman and Main Board in front of IBM's Chairman and senior executives and build the relationship from the top
